The upgraded version of Microsoft Outlook has links to social websites like Twitter and LinkedIn. These support businesses and help them grow.

• Word: Microsoft Word is currently the most common word processor in the market. Because it is so common, the.doc format has become the de facto format for text documents. Word docs can be easily converted to PDF and HTML files. Hyperlinks are usually created in Word by pasting the full URL into a page.

• Excel: Office's spreadsheet program also includes faster performance, significantly increased spreadsheet capacity, intuitive formula authoring using business terms, and advanced sorting and filtering, Microsoft Excel supports advanced analysis that can lead to insight and better decision-making. Microsoft Office Coming to IPhone

Sep 6, 2011

Buzz has been circulating for a while now about the inevitability of the ubiquitous Microsoft Office suite of applications, coming to Apple's ubiquitous iPhone, but now it seems word has gone from inevitable to imminent, meaning soon. This coming off subtle but telling words from a Microsoft exec (President of Microsoft Business Division Stephen Elop) to an interviewer (Tim O'Reilly) at the recent Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco.

The actual comments made were more generally structured around the idea of Microsoft Office coming to smartphones that weren't Windows Mobile based with the iPhone only mentioned cursorily with its Facebook app given as an example of Microsoft's inspiration for the move.

Comprising the Microsoft Word word-processing application, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet application, and Microsoft PowerPoint presentation application, and some 11 other lesser-known apps, Microsoft Office is one of the most widely used software packages in the world, and bringing itself to the iPhone is going to serve and delight both PC and Mac users (and makers) alike.

They'd better hurry, because 3rd party app makers are already a step ahead of them in the game, with one company putting out in the next few weeks QuickOffice for iPhone, an iPhone app that lets you write and edit Word docs and Excel spreadsheets. Sounds like pricing will be in the range of $20 for the full package and $13 for just one program (Word or Excel).

They'd also better hurry because top competitor RIM has already the ability to both create and edit Microsoft Word Docs available on the Blackberry.

Windows Live Office consists of integrated Internet services that include conferencing features, work-group management tools and document sharing. A main feature of Windows Live Office is the ability to present online meetings using audio and video components. Windows Live Office is also used for help desk support and training of end users in applications over the Internet. There are several minor potential issues when using Windows Live Office applications, which can often be solved through troubleshooting the program.

Audio Problems

There are times when Windows Live Office has poor audio quality which makes it difficult to hear audio for meetings and conferences. Audio may also be distorted or have an echo or delay. Microsoft suggests the following remedy to solve audio problems. Run "Audio and Video Setup" through the Windows Live Office console, follow the step by step instructions to test audio and after the audio is tested and sounds clear, click "Apply." Microsoft recommends that other applications which use memory are closed when using the audio portion of Windows Live Office.

ActiveX Errors

When logging on to a Windows Live Office meeting, security settings within Live Office can prevent the execution of an ActiveX program needed for a certain function. This might cause a page not to display or produce a blank browser window. The recommended solution to fix this problem is to access Internet Explorer, click "Tools," then click "Internet Options." The "Internet Properties" dialog box will appear. Click the "Security" tab and "Select a Web Content Zone" to specify its security settings box. Choose "Trusted Sites," and then click "Sites." In the Trusted Sites dialog box, clear the "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" check box. Since ActiveX is a component of Windows Update, the final step is to add the update address for ActiveX controls. In the "Add this Web site to the zone" text box, enter http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate, then click "Add." This should automatically install the latest ActiveX updates to view Windows Live Office meeting.

Data Execution Errors

When logging on to Windows Live Office, data execution errors can cause the Windows Live Office to shut down. Windows Live Office uses the Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 Data Execution Prevention feature to block out viruses and malicious software, and if Windows Live Office is not in the program list, the program won't execute. The solution for eliminating false data execution errors is to customize the security settings by using the following procedures. Click "Start," click "Run," type "appwiz.cpl", and then click "OK." In the "Currently installed programs" list, click "Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2005," and then click "Remove." Click "Yes" when prompted. Click "Start," then "Run," type "control printers", and then click "OK." Right-click "Microsoft Office Live Meeting Document Writer," click "Delete," and then click "Yes" at the prompt.

How to Solve Problems in Office Word

Aug 17, 2011

If you are using an older version of Microsoft Office, such as Microsoft Office 1997, you may struggle to find support for the software. You can use a few steps to diagnose and solve your problems for Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word.

Instructions

Check the compatibility for your operating system. Although modern computers will far exceed the system requirements to run Office 97, newer operating system architectures actually reverse the compatibility. With Windows 7, for example, you cannot run Office 97. In this case you will need to buy a later version of your Office suite. If you are using an old operating system, try other options to diagnose your issue.

Use the command line switches. These are universal to all Office programs, no matter which edition. Click "Start," "Run." Click "Browse." Locate the Office application you want to fix. Click "Open." Enclose the entire path with quotation marks, then put a space at the end of the quotation marks.

Add the following codes to do different things; add each without quotation marks:

unregisters Word from the registry. Follow this by running it with "/r" to re-register it in the registry.

Determine where your problem lies. For example, if you used the "/a" attribute and you have no errors, you know the problem is with your default template. Find a solution to reinstall the default template, or check that file for viruses. If you used the "/m" attribute and the program opens, you know that you have a macro running in the program that is causing an error. Open the "Macros" menu and disable all the macros. After you have tried opening your Office application without additional factors, you can determine where the problem lies.
